This period of time drives me crazy since it is coming to the end of the semester at RMIT University. Moreover, the due days for the second and last assignments are only one week apart. It is even harder for me because I would always leave things till the last minute and make myself panic trying to turn in things on time. Hence, time and stress management when working under pressure are the priority in terms of skill development. In order to overcome my weakness, I have to thoroughly plan a smart goal for a group project and an individual one. For the magazine assignment, I am in charge of the visual principle, including the main designer and photographer. To be specific, I would begin to scratch all the material every Saturday night and arrange the schedule for the following week.
Then, I would start the workload throughout the week based on the assigned role. For instance, I would have assignment 2 due in Week 11. I divided the project into small pieces so that it allowed me to have a productive week and I would have more time to work in parallel on assignment 3. I split the work into two tasks, what I called ‘shooting and colour grading’ and ‘designing’. Before all of these could happen, I would have to work with my teammates on building the content brief, so that I could ensure the consistency between visual and content elements. Overall, the result turned out very decent for what I had paid off.
In conclusion, time management is one of my greatest accomplishments during my time with the Making Media course. This course is the foundation for my Professional Communication future career.
